Make sure you have downloaded the Latest version of Adaware from their website. Old versions will not properly update and will not properly run!

The problem with adware and spyware is the concept of reporting your Internet surfing habits back home for data collection purposes. Remove Spyware from your computer with Adaware6. The freeware version of Ad-aware is compatible with Windows 9x/ME/NT40, Windows 2000 and Windows XP Home/Pro. Go here to download Adaware. Be sure to download the free version and not an evaluation version.

1. It is important to make sure that you do updates to Adaware so that it knows about the latest spyware to look for on your computer. Updates are free and do not require a subscription.  Just double click on the Adaware SE icon on your desktop.

2. If your definitions are out of date you will get a message like this.  Just click on OK

3. Next click on Connect. You must be connected to the internet before you attempt to do an update.

4. Now click on OK (shown below).

5. Click Finish (shown below). This will take you to the program so you can start your scan.

6. Now to run a scan on your computer just click on Start shown below.  That will take you to the next screen.  Click on Next to begin the scan.  We recommend running a scan at least once a week, if not more often.

7. If it finds any spyware or adware it will look like the picture below. Just click on Next.

8. Now put a check mark in each box and click on Next.  (Or you can Right click on the first object, then left click on Select All.) You must check the ones that you want it to remove. We usually remove them all.

9. This box will popup to confirm that you want to remove the items.  Just click OK.

10.  Now it will take you back to the begining of Adaware6.  Just click the X in the upper right corner to close.
